At what seems like opposite ends of the technology scale, this week I read about a tablet that’s been designed specifically for library lending, that will hopefully end some of the difficulties libraries face lending out tablets that are set up to work best with a single user. The tablets come pre-loaded with content and personal information can’t be added, removing the need to worry about privacy issues when the tablet is returned to the library.
Then I read about a vinyl record library in Seoul, South Korea. It holds more than 10,000 vinyl records that customers can play on site, over 3,000 vinyl related books and performance spaces to promote indie and underground live music. The retro attraction of vinyl is clearly alive and well!
