Today’s guest post comes from ILN Ambassador for Azerbaijan, Mushvig Imamverdiyev about his recent visit to Koc University Library in Turkey. Thanks Mushvig!
Following the Memorandum of Understanding between ADA University in Azerbaijan and Koc University in Turkey, in 2015, November Libraries initiated staff exchange. Mushvig Imamverdiyev, ILN Country Ambassador, and Head of Research and Instructional Services visited Koc University Library for a week. The purpose of the visit to attend in Koc University Library to observe the services related with information Literacy teaching and Electronic Resources Acquisition. Getting to know the services provided by Koc University Library, shadowing Information Literacy teaching, building Interlibrary Loan between two libraries, getting to know the procedures of e-resource evaluation, International collaboration, extending the cooperation planning were the objectives of this visit.
During the trip we discussed Collection Management and Development issues. Two universities’ professionals reviewed electronic Databases, e-books, e-journals acquisition and evaluation procedures. The role of the Library at University Education process was examined by Librarians. Library Information Literacy Program contribution to the University Curriculum was discussed and certain plans arranged by librarians.
I presented about Azerbaijan Libraries to the host community and provided information about International Librarians Network and Peer Mentoring Program, and its worldwide effects to the International Librarianship. The Host Community was interested in International Librarians Network and decided to apply to the Peer Mentoring Program and to be part of ILN Community.
