Library A to Z Kickstarter Campaign as at 20/5/2014

Here’s an incredible example of advocacy in action. Right now, there is a Kickstarter campaign running to create a collection of advocacy materials (including a book) showcasing an A to Z of reasons why libraries are awesome.

The brain child of library researcher/practitioner Andrew Walsh and Gary Green from advocacy website, Voices for the Library,  the Library A to Z project’s is not only a really interesting project, it seems to have captured people’s imaginations. It’s great to see that it has already nearly doubled it’s initial funding goals. This means they’ve added new stretch goals including sending advocacy packs to media, members of the UK cabinet and the UK parliament.

This project has shows some creative thinking about how to get the message out there into the world. They even offer a backing level where you can ask them to send a copy to your local political representative.

If you want to know more (including their plans to release material with a creative commons license) check out their Kickstarter.

  1. Hi. Thanks for mentioning the Library A to Z Kickstarter – we’re almost ready to release the material raised through the funding. We are still open to suggestions about who to send media packs to and also the political representatives who will receive the books/greetings cards – all suggestions are welcome. PS. I actually came to this site to find out more information about ILN, so it was a nice surprise to see the Kickstarter mentioned. 🙂

    Thanks – Gary Green
